Losing weight is a goal for most people at some point in their lives.

Whether it’s to improve their own body image or to become healthier, there are several reasons why someone might want to lose weight.

Unfortunately trying to reach that goal, they might go down paths that are more harmful to their health, or just don’t get them anywhere.

In this blog, we look at some of those myths and debunk them.

1. Eating Later In The Day Leads To Weight Gain

Before conducting my research, I was guilty of believing this myth.????

After all, how many times have you seen a blog or a fitness influencer advise against eating after 8pm if you want to lose weight?

According to dietitians, it’s not really about when you eat as much as it’s about what you eat.

A research study conducted in 2016 found that there was absolutely no link between weight gain and eating past 8pm.

While eating at 8pm will not in itself cause weight gain, it might lead to weight gain if you already are over your daily calorie intake.

2. Juice Cleanses Help With Weight Loss

If you are looking to lose a few pounds quickly for a certain occasion, a juice cleanse might work.

However, a juice cleanse is not sustainable and cannot be a way for you to maintain your weight.

Juice cleanses lead to a severe calorie deficit, and that’s why it helps you lose a lot of weight initially – most of it being water weight.

Once you introduce solid foods, you will regain all that you had lost.

3. Supplements Work

Although there are several weight loss supplements currently on the market, very few of them work.

Some might even cause adverse health effects on your body and cause more harm than good.

Weight loss is a $71 billion industry, so there will be people looking to capitalize on it and get rich quick.

If you do choose to use supplements to lose weight, make sure you understand everything contained in the supplement.

Also, speak to your health care provider before making any purchasing decision.

Although some supplements might work, just like juice cleanses, they are temporary solutions if you are unable to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
